In two dimension sky considered as a circle. if we divide circle in 12 parts value of each part is 30 degree. each part is called Rasi.
Rasis are group of stars.
These groups of stars froms a seperate pattern per each rasi. For 12 rasis stars pattern is as follows.

If circle(360 degree) is divided by 27, value of each nakshtra is 13 degree 20 min. There are 4 padas in each nakshtra. value of each pada is 3 degree 20 min. Each rasis having 2.25 nakshtra.
For example:
In Aries - Ashwini 4 pada
- Bharani 4 pada
- Krittika 1 pada
There are 9 pada in each rashi.
Nakshtra are also group of stars. They form it different shape in case of ashwani nakshtra it is a shape of horse.
There are 9 planets in the sky
Rahu & Ketu are not physical planet they are intersection points between sun & moon. There is fixed relation between Rasi & Nakshtra ie. same nakshtra are placed in the particular Rasi.
At thr timr of birth of any individual placement of 9 planets in particular rasi, particular nakshtra and their relation with each other affects the human life on the earth. This is called Jyotish.
